Nestled into the scenic Hill Country of central Texas, Sandy Creek Park is an inviting 92-acre oasis located on the quieter coves of Lake Travis. This park is a haven for nature lovers, offering an array of outdoor activities such as swimming, nature walks, birding, and fishing. Campers and outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the serene, wooded environment, providing a serene escape from the busier sections of the lake.

Visitors can observe a variety of wildlife, including the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler, making it an excellent spot for birdwatching and nature photography. A hike along the wooded bluff and shoreline reveals stunning views of the lake and surrounding landscape.

Fees

  • Day Use Fee: $5 per person
  • Senior Citizens (62+ years): $3 per person or $80 for a lifetime permit
  • Children (12 years and under): No charge
  • Disabled Veterans: No charge for entry with proof of disability
  • Trailer Parking Fee: $7 per trailer per day (No charge for seniors or disabled veterans)

Know Before You Go

As of now, camping is temporarily suspended due to construction related to the BCRUA Water Project and is expected to resume in late 2026. The park currently allows only day-use activities.

It’s important to note that there is no potable water available at Sandy Creek Park. Guests should bring their own water supply.

Visitors are urged to avoid contact with algae present in the lakes, along with keeping pets away from the water’s edge.

Rules

To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all visitors, the following are prohibited:

  • Cutting or gathering of firewood
  • Fireworks
  • Glass containers
  • Ground fires
  • Off-leash pets
  • Public display of consumption of alcohol
  • Tobacco products

Park Hours

Sandy Creek Park operates daily from sunrise to 8 PM. Be sure to plan your visit accordingly.

Additional Information

While the park does not provide equipment for recreational activities, it is a great place for visitors to bring along their own gear and enjoy everything the natural setting has to offer.

As a reminder, zebra mussels have been identified along the shoreline; swimmers and visitors should exercise caution while near the water.
