Available Campsites

The Stump Creek Guard Station features a comfortable cabin that can accommodate up to 15 people. Inside, you’ll find:

  • One large sleeping room with two bunk beds
  • A kitchen equipped with a gas stove, a handful of dishes and cups
  • A dining table with chairs
  • Propane heater and lanterns for warmth and illumination
  • A vault toilet located on-site

It is important for guests to bring their own sleeping pads, drinking water, bedding, towels, and garbage bags to pack out their trash, as the station does not have water or electricity.

For directions:

  • From Afton, Wyoming, drive 4 miles north on Highway 89 to Grover.
  • Turn west at Grover and continue for 3 miles to Auburn.
  • Travel south ½ mile to Road 110, then travel west for 4 miles to Road 109.
  • Proceed west for an additional 2 miles to reach the guard station.

  • Bring your own supplies, including food, bedding, and drinking water.
  • The facility operates on a pack-it-in/pack-it-out basis for waste management.
  • A risk of hantavirus exposure exists, particularly within remote areas; precautions should be taken.
  • Check snow conditions before planning your visit from November through June.
  • Please respect all amenities by leaving the cabin clean for future occupants.
