Located on the southeast shore of Swan Lake, the cabin is accessible only by float plane or helicopter. The closest town, Petersburg, is about 18 miles away. Guests should be aware that the lake typically freezes over from November through early June, which may limit access during these months. It is advisable to contact the Petersburg Ranger District prior to making any reservations during this period.
Cabin Features
- Capacity: The A-frame cabin can accommodate up to seven people with two wooden bunks and a sleeping loft.
- Amenities: Equipped with a table, benches, and a clean-burning oil heater, which guests need to fuel with their own kerosene or No. 1 heating oil.
- Facilities: An outhouse with pit toilets is provided, but remember that drinking water is not supplied. Guests are encouraged to bring their own water or treat water from the lake prior to use.
- Outdoor Campfire: While firewood is provided for heating the cabin, guests can collect dead and down wood from the forest for outdoor campfires.
