Getting There

The journey to Towers Arm Cabin is part of the adventure itself. Visitors can reach the cabin:

  • 16 miles by float plane from Petersburg
  • 38 miles by boat

Please note that a 15-foot tide is required for boat access, while a 16-foot tide is recommended for float planes. Lower tides may necessitate a up to 2-mile hike across the tidal flats.

Accommodations

This cozy hunter-style cabin can comfortably accommodate up to four people with:

  • Four single wooden bunks
  • A table and benches
  • A wood stove that serves both for heating and cooking

The cabin is equipped with a pit toilet outhouse, and while firewood is typically supplied for heating the cabin, campers should collect dead and down wood for outdoor fires.

Essential Amenities

Guests are advised to bring the following essentials:

  • Sleeping bags and pads
  • Cooking stove and gear
  • Towels, food, and clothing
  • Fire starter and garbage bags

Although a broom, dust pan, axe, and splitting maul may be available, it’s recommended to check the condition of these items upon arrival and report any damages to the local ranger district.

Towers Arm Cabin serves as an ideal base for various activities, including:

  • Fishing: Coho salmon can be caught from August to September, while steelhead trout are available from April to May.
  • Wildlife Viewing: The surrounding area is home to diverse wildlife: waterfowl, grouse, deer, wolves, and black bears can frequently be spotted.
  • Hunting: The region is noted for hunting opportunities as per state and federal regulations.

With abundant waterfowl from September through November and shorebirds in early May, this locale is a haven for bird watchers and photographers alike.

  • The cabin does not have a source of fresh water; bring your own supply whenever possible.
  • A small stream north of the cabin provides water, but it must be treated or boiled before consumption.
