This charming cabin, with a rich history as a former hatchery manager’s house constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1938, offers a perfect retreat for nature enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility in the great outdoors.

Cabin Features

  • Accommodates up to 12 people with six sets of bunkbeds.
  • Equipped with a wood stove for cooking and heating.

  • Storage cabinets and available firewood provided.
  • Outdoor amenities include a picnic table and campfire ring.
  • Vault toilet located outside the cabin for guest convenience.

Location & Accessibility

Nestled at an elevation of 6,000 feet in a grassy area surrounded by a conifer forest, Warm River Cabin is the perfect basecamp for various outdoor activities. The cabin can be accessed by car during the warmer months, while snowmobiles and cross-country skis are necessary for access from early December through mid-May on designated trails.

To reach the cabin, follow these directions: From Ashton, travel east-northeast on Highway 47 for about 15 miles to Forest Road 150, then make your way through scenic paths that lead you to the cabin, located adjacent to the beautiful Warm River Springs.

Warm River Cabin is situated near stunning natural features, including:

  • The Mesa Falls Scenic Byway which offers stunning views of the Upper (114-foot) and Lower Mesa Falls (65-foot).
  • Access to excellent fishing in the Warm River, known for its trout.
  • A plethora of trails for hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers.
  • Opportunity for berry picking in late summer and seasonal game bird hunting.

Important Information

  • No water is available at the cabin; guests must treat water from a nearby spring if used.
  • Be sure to adhere to the food storage guidelines as the area is home to grizzly and black bears.
  • This is a pack-it-in/pack-it-out facility, which means all trash must be taken with you when you leave.
  • Ensure all campfires are fully extinguished before departure to comply with site regulations.
