Situated within the stunning Prescott National Forest, Yavapai Campground offers a serene escape into nature. Nestled at an elevation of 5,600 feet and surrounded by the beauty of a cool ponderosa pine forest, this campground is the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. Located just seven miles northwest of downtown Prescott, it combines accessibility with the tranquility of the wilderness.

Available Campsites

Yavapai Campground features a variety of camping options with a total of 19 single occupancy campsites and 2 double occupancy campsites. Each campsite is equipped with:

  • Picnic table
  • Steel fire ring
  • Established tent pads

For those seeking accessibility, four campsites come with small pedestal fire grills. Please note that campsites number 4, 16, and 21 are walk-in only and cannot be reserved.

Camp, RV, and Explore Outdoors

Yavapai Campground is designed for varied camping experiences. Campsites range from standard nonelectric to those with electric hookups (Campsite 9 offers a 50-amp service). Most campsites allow for RVs, trailers, or tent camping, although some have specific size restrictions; for instance, campsite 10 accommodates trailers up to 10 feet and RVs up to 25 feet.

Please be aware that there is no RV sanitary dump station available, so plan accordingly if you’re traveling with larger units.

Natural Features

The campground is beautifully integrated into the natural landscape, featuring granite rock outcrops, a variety of tree species including ponderosa and limber pines, as well as oak and manzanita. The rich biodiversity of the surrounding area offers opportunities for bird-watching and nature observation.

Yavapai Campground offers a wide array of recreational activities. Guests can enjoy:

  • Fishing in Granite Basin Lake for species such as largemouth bass and catfish

Swimming and wading in Granite Basin Lake is not allowed, ensuring the preservation of its natural environment.

  • Maximum Stay: 14 days within 30 consecutive days
  • Pets: Pets are welcome but must be leashed or caged and never left unattended
  • Fire Restrictions: Be aware of possible fire restrictions due to dry conditions; wood and charcoal fires may be prohibited
  • Vehicle Limits: Maximum of two vehicles per single-family campsite and four vehicles for double campsites
