Located in the picturesque Manzanita Mountains at an elevation of approximately 7,400 feet, Cedro Peak Group Campground offers an enchanting escape into nature, just eight miles south off of I-40. Surrounded by a beautiful forest of pinon and juniper trees, this campground is the ideal choice for large groups wanting to enjoy outdoor activities in close proximity to scenic views and trails.
Available Campsites
The campground features two large, fully accessible group campsites named Robin and Jay. Each site is equipped to accommodate a substantial number of guests:
- Jay Site: Accommodates up to 100 people and 27 vehicles. Rate: $125 per night.
- Robin Site: Accommodates up to 150 people and 41 vehicles. Rate: $175 per night.
Both sites include grills, tables, and large campfire circles, perfect for evenings under the stars. Some tables are covered with picnic shelters, providing comfort and shade during the day.
Accessibility and Amenities
Accessibility at Cedro Peak Group Campground is a priority. The campground features:
- Accessible vault toilets
- Bear-proof trash receptacles, ensuring safety in bear territory
- Ample parking space, including a circular turn-around drive at the Jay site for small travel trailers
Water and electricity, as well as firewood and charcoal, are not available on-site, so guests should come prepared with their own supplies. Visitors are encouraged to practice responsible use of public lands by abiding by Leave No Trace principles.

The area surrounding Cedro Peak Group Campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities:

Getting There
Accessing the campground is straightforward from Albuquerque or the Edgewood area. Follow these directions:
- From Albuquerque: Take I-40 east to Exit 175, then drive south on State Highway 337 for approximately 4 miles. Turn left at the Juan Tomas/242 sign and continue onto Forest Road 252 for about one mile.
- From Edgewood: Use Exit 175 off I-40, turn left at the bottom of the ramp, and continue to the light. Turn right, then left at the intersection of State Road 333/66 and State Road 337. Follow the same directions as above from that point.
Keep note that the gate lock combination will be provided in your reservation confirmation email, ensuring a smooth entry into the campground.

The campground is nestled in a serene environment, featuring a mix of ponderosa pine, pinon, and juniper trees, creating a tranquil atmosphere perfect for relaxation and rejuvenation. The region’s arid, hilly landscape offers a unique backdrop for outdoor explorers.

- A non-refundable reservation fee of $10 is charged through recreation.gov.
- Bears are known to frequent the area; please secure food and waste in bear-proof containers.
