About the Cabin

Originally built in 1934 but with a site history dating back to 1907, Squirrel Meadows Cabin is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is constructed from sturdy lodgepole pine and boasts a charming wood shingled roof, making it a unique part of the region’s heritage. The cabin is designed with a rustic two-room layout that can comfortably accommodate up to six guests.

• This is a pack-it-in/pack-it-out facility—please take all trash with you upon leaving.
• Fires must be fully extinguished before departure to ensure safety.
• The area is home to grizzly and black bears; food storage must follow the Caribou Targhee National Forest Food Storage Order.
• Guests may be at risk of exposure to hantavirus and should take necessary precautions.

Getting to the Cabin

Access to Squirrel Meadows Cabin is available from mid-May through mid-November via gravel roads for about 10 miles. For the winter months stretching from early December to mid-May, snowmobiles and cross-country skis are required, with a trek from the nearest snowmobile trailhead approximately 10 miles to the cabin.
