Constructed in 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this historic cabin provides not only a cozy lodging experience but also a window into the rich history of the area, having served as a residence for the district ranger and subsequently as accommodations for fire crews during fire seasons.

Location & Accessibility

Situated at an elevation of 4,000 feet, Sycamore Cabin enjoys a moderate climate year-round, which is ideal for outdoor activities. The cabin is conveniently located near Sycamore Creek, perfect for those who wish to explore the unique riparian ecosystems right outside their door. The access to the cabin is managed via a lock box; details for the key combination will be provided in the confirmation letter upon booking.

Campsite Features

  • Capacity: The cabin can accommodate up to 8 guests, but only has sleeping arrangements for 6 (1 double bed and 4 twin bunk beds). An additional 2 guests can stay if using a recreational vehicle (RV).
  • Amenities: Enjoy a range of facilities including running water, electricity, a fully equipped kitchen with an electric range and refrigerator, and a bathroom with a flush toilet and shower.
  • Heating/Cooling: The cabin is equipped with both a wood stove and gas heating for colder months, in addition to air-conditioning for warmer periods.
  • Outdoor Features: The cabin sits within a fenced yard and provides a corral area capable of accommodating up to 4 horses.

Important Guidelines

Guests are advised to bring along essential supplies such as food, sleeping bags, linens, towels, dish soap, matches, a first aid kit, toilet paper, and garbage bags to ensure a comfortable stay. Additionally, an emergency light source is recommended. The cabin is strictly no smoking, and pets are not allowed to maintain a pleasant environment for all visitors.

The area surrounding Sycamore Cabin is teeming with life and activity:

  • Wildlife: Expect to see diverse wildlife including mule deer, javelina, and multiple bird species such as hawks and doves. Other fauna includes coyotes, rabbits, and the occasional mountain lion.

Reservations & Regulations

Sycamore Cabin is available for year-round reservations. The standard check-in time is 2 PM and check-out time at 10 AM to allow for necessary cleaning. Guests must pack out all food and garbage to keep the environment pristine. Firewood prohibitions apply, and visitors are encouraged to collect firewood locally to prevent the spread of tree-killing pests.
