About Musick Guard Station

Constructed in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Musick Guard Station was originally built for fire protection in the Bohemia Mining District. It has since been designated a historic site on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can enjoy the site’s rich heritage while experiencing the natural beauty that surrounds it.

Forest Environment: The campground is nestled atop a forested ridge, surrounded by steep, heavily wooded slopes of fir, spruce, and hemlock.

Available Campsites

The guard station features a two-story cabin that can accommodate a maximum of ten people. The main floor includes a central room with an adjoining kitchen and a bedroom, while the upper bunkroom provides additional sleeping space. The cabin amenities include:

Two double wooden platform beds
Four bunk beds (mattresses not provided)
Wood stove for heating
Wood cook stove and oven

Pack Out Garbage: All garbage and food must be removed upon departure.
No Smoking: The cabin is a non-smoking facility.

Currently, due to extensive vandalism and necessary repairs, Musick Guard Station is closed, and this closure is expected to last through the 2025 camping season. Visitors are encouraged to check in with the local ranger district for updates on the site’s status and road access options.
