Available Campsites
Indian Trees Campground features 15 single-family campsites, suitable for both tent and RV camping. Most sites can accommodate up to 10 people and two vehicles, with one site capable of accommodating up to 15 individuals. Here’s a brief overview of the campsite options:
- Site #1 to #15: RV Non-electric and Tent sites
- Site #2: Designed for bicycle users
- Site #6: Fully accessible site
Each site is equipped with a table, campfire ring with grill, and access to accessible vault toilets and drinking water. A campground host is available on-site to assist guests, though it is important to note that utility hookups are not available.

Situated at an elevation of about 5,100 feet, Indian Trees Campground is named for the region’s scarred ponderosa pine trees, which have historical significance as Native Americans once stripped them of bark to harvest the sweet cambium layer for food. The area is rich with wildlife, including mule and white-tailed deer, elk, and moose, making it a perfect spot for wildlife observation and photography.

Need to Know

Getting There
Accessing Indian Trees Campground is straightforward. From Sula, travel 6 miles south on Highway 93, then proceed 1 mile southwest on Forest Road 729. The final stretch to the campground offers a gravel road, but rest assured, the campground and parking spurs are paved for your convenience.
