Overview

The campground features 11 individual campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site accommodates a maximum of eight people and two vehicles. The campground was originally built in the 1970s but underwent significant improvements in the early 1990s, ensuring that all facilities are compliant with ADA standards. This thoughtful design allows for everyone to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors.

Fireworks and discharging firearms are strictly prohibited.

Important Information

Before visiting, please note the following:

• No potable water is available on-site; visitors must obtain drinking water across the Briceburg Bridge.
• Dogs are allowed in the campground but are not permitted on McCabe Beach.
• Campsite Fees: The camping fee is $10 per site per night, with a discounted rate of $5 for holders of an America the Beautiful pass.

Access and Directions

To reach McCabe Flat Campground from Merced, take U.S. Highway 99 east for 40 miles to State Highway 140. Continue for 12 miles along Highway 140 to the Briceburg Visitor Center. From there, proceed downstream along the Briceburg River Road to access the campground. Please note that trailers over 18 feet and large RVs may find it challenging to cross the suspension bridge.
