The campground is divided by the Sandy Lake Dam into northern and southern sections, each with distinct access points:

• North Entrance – Access to campsites 22-49, tent sites 5-8, the north group campsite, and the camper cabin.
• South Entrance – Access to campsites 1-21, tent sites 1-4, and the south group campsite.

With a clean and family-friendly environment, Sandy Lake is noted for its remarkable access to both fishing and boating opportunities on Big Sandy Lake as well as the nearby Mississippi River.
