General Information
The lookout features a rustic 15′ by 15′ cabin located atop a 20-foot wooden tower, accommodating up to four guests. The lookout is equipped with basic amenities, including:

- Three twin cots
- A table and chairs
- A woodstove for warmth
- Propane cook stove and powered lanterns
- Dishes and cutlery for meal preparation
While the lookout is furnished to ensure a comfortable stay, visitors must bring their own sleeping gear, water, and propane. Please note that there is no electricity or indoor plumbing; a vault toilet is available nearby.
Access and Transportation
Granite Butte Lookout is accessible by vehicle, although the last section of the drive can be rough. It is recommended to use high-clearance vehicles for the final stretch along Granite Butte Road #4133. The primary route includes:
- Stemple Pass Road #601 from downtown Lincoln
- Marsh Creek Road #485 leading to Granite Butte Road #4133
During the winter months, the last 4.5 miles to the lookout may require skiing or snowmobiling due to snow conditions. Guests are encouraged to check for current road conditions and other restrictions before their visit.
