Nestled within the scenic Big Rock Forest Preserve in Illinois, Big Rock Campground offers an ideal escape into nature. This campground is open seasonally from May 1 through the third Sunday in October, providing a perfect backdrop for camping enthusiasts. The campground is equipped with 109 campsites, allowing for various camping experiences, whether you prefer improved sites with amenities or more rustic, primitive camping.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of nature while enjoying recreational activities such as biking, horseback riding, fishing, and educational nature programs. Note: Outside firewood is permitted to be brought into the campground to enhance your campfire experience. For health and safety reasons, certain restrictions may apply during wet weather to protect the trails.

Reservations and Fees

Reservations are required and can be made online with credit card payment. The online reservation system opens every year on April 1 at 9 a.m. Central Time. Campground fees vary based on residency, with discounts available for Kane County residents.

• Kane County Residents:
  • Improved sites: $15 – $26/day depending on amenities
  • Primitive sites: $15/day
• Nonresidents:
  • Improved sites: $24 – $41/day based on amenities
  • Primitive sites: $15/day

Check-in time is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at 12 p.m. The campground is closed from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. daily for maintenance.
