At an elevation of 6,650 feet, enjoy cooler temperatures during hot summer days while surrounded by majestic pine trees and the symphony of nature.

    Available Campsites

    Pine Mountain Campground features six campsites arranged in a circular layout, encircling a large open area. Each site is equipped with:

    • Picnic tables
    • Barbecue grills or fire rings
    • Access to one pit toilet

    As a “dry campground”, please make sure to bring your own water, as no drinking water is available on-site.

    Camp, RV, and Explore Outdoors

    Whether you’re pitching a tent in one of the designated tent-only sites or planning a day of outdoor activities, Pine Mountain Campground offers an array of recreational opportunities:

    • Hiking: Explore the nearby hiking trails, including the Boulder Canyon Trail and the trails from nearby Reyes Peak Campground.
    • Biking: Take on the Middle Sespe Trail, which is ideal for miles of fun away from the wilderness trails.
    • Fishing: Enjoy fishing at various locations within a 30-minute drive from the campground.
    • Wildlife Viewing: Keep your eyes peered to the skies for red-tailed hawks and perhaps even the endangered California condor.

    Need to Know

    Reservations: Please note that there is a 2-night minimum stay on weekends and a 3-night minimum stay on holidays. Each campsite reservation includes fees for 1 vehicle and up to 6 people, with additional fees for extra vehicles and guests.

    Fire Restrictions: Campfires are typically permitted year-round, but check for any fire restrictions prior to your arrival as conditions may vary.

    Emergency Precautions: Due to the secluded nature of the campground, always hike with a partner and inform someone of your plans. Emergency help is miles away, so bring a first aid kit and safety gear.

    To reach Pine Mountain Campground, follow Highway 33 to the Pine Mountain Summit turnoff (mile marker 42.50). Follow the partially paved road for approximately 4.7 miles until you reach the campground on your right.
