Accommodations and Amenities

Capacity: The hut features 12 bunk beds, providing space for up to 12 guests.
Hut Type: Serviced Alpine Hut – equipped with basic facilities to ensure a comfortable stay.
Bookings: Reservations are required during the summer season, and must be made online to secure a spot.
Hut Warden: A warden is present periodically from December through April to assist guests and maintain the hut.
Water Supply: Water from the tank may be scarce during summer; it is advisable to bring your own water or treat/boil water sourced from the nearby tarn.

Children/Youth (5-17 years): $22.50 per night
Service Fee: A $10 fee applies for phone and in-person bookings.

Access and Trails

The trail leading to Brewster Hut, known as the Brewster Track, offers challenging terrain for experienced hikers. The approximate duration from the nearest road end, SH 6 (Haast Highway), is around 3-4 hours return journey. Please note that the crossing of the Haast River is part of the trail and can be dangerous during high flood periods, usually occurring after heavy rainfall or during snowmelt.

Important Information

Season: Brewster Hut is open from Labour Weekend (late October) to the end of April.
Booking Policy: All bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis. Advance bookings are highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
Hut Tickets: Ensure you have the necessary hut tickets before your arrival; four tickets per stay are required.
