Campground Features
The campground comprises 22 standard tent sites and two hike-and-bike campsites, all located in a picturesque meadow near the Big Sur River. Each campsite is equipped with:

- Picnic table for outdoor dining
- Food storage container to keep your provisions safe from wildlife
While the campground does offer basic amenities, such as potable water and restrooms with flush toilets, please note that there are no shower facilities available.
Seasonal Availability
Andrew Molera Trail Camp typically operates from late spring until mid-October. The campground is scheduled to close for the winter season starting October 22, 2024, and is anticipated to reopen in late spring 2025. During this closure, alternative camping options are available at nearby state parks such as Pfeiffer Big Sur and Julia Pfeiffer Burns.
Reservation and Check-in Details
Reservations for all campsites are strongly encouraged, as no first-come, first-served sites are available. Guests can easily secure a site through ReserveCalifornia.com. Upon arrival, check-in is required at the entrance station where campers will receive vehicle and campsite registration tags. It’s important to note:
- Check-in Time: 2 p.m.
- Check-out Time: 12 noon
- Maximum Occupancy: Four people per campsite, including children
Regulations and Safety
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors, the state park enforces several rules and regulations:
- Fires are permitted only in provided fire rings.
- No wood gathering is allowed; firewood can be purchased at the entrance station.
- Dogs are prohibited in the park.
- Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.; please respect fellow campers.
- All plants, animals, and artifacts are protected by law.
