Gallo Campground features a total of 27 individual campsites and 2 group sites, making it an ideal destination for both solo travelers and larger groups looking to explore this remarkable park. The campground is nestled among fallen boulders, offering a rugged environment that ensures a memorable outdoor experience.
Amenities
Each campsite comes equipped with:
- Picnic table for outdoor dining
- Fire grate with grill for cooking and warmth
- Access to water and flush toilets
- One dump station for RVs
While the campground boasts essential facilities, it does not offer showers or hook-ups. Generators are permitted during specified hours to help maintain a comfortable atmosphere.
Camping Details
Campsites are available for reservation on recreation.gov, opening up three months in advance of your desired camping date. The cost per individual site is $20.00 per night, with a discounted rate of $10.00 for holders of the Interagency Senior and Access pass. Group sites, accommodating 10 to 30 people, can be reserved for a flat rate of $60.00 per night but are limited to seven consecutive days at a time.
Please remember the following guidelines:
- Camping is limited to 30 days in a calendar year
- Each campsite can host up to 6 people, with a maximum of 2 tents and 2 vehicles
- Pets are welcome but must be leashed
- Fires are permitted; however, gathering wood is prohibited, and no firewood is available for sale on-site

Gallo Campground features accessible sites, including Site #11 and both restrooms, ensuring that all visitors can enjoy their stay in the rugged beauty of Chaco Culture National Historical Park.
Important Information
Please note that Gallo Campground closes for the night before Thanksgiving, on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. Given its popularity, particularly on weekends and holidays, it is advisable to reserve your spot in advance.
