Welcome to Head Beach Camp Grounds, a hidden gem located on the picturesque coast of Maine at the tip of the Phippsburg peninsula. Nestled within 300+ acres of beautiful landscape, this family-owned campground is home to the stunning Head Beach, one of Maine’s best-kept secrets.

Location and Accessibility

Getting to Head Beach Camp Grounds is straightforward:

• Take I-295 North to Exit 28 (Coastal Route 1, Brunswick/Bath).
• Follow Route 1 into Bath, then take the Route 209/High Street/Phippsburg exit after the Exxon station.
• Continue on Route 209 South for approximately 2.5 miles until you arrive.

Campground Features

Head Beach Camp Grounds offers a range of amenities and features designed to enhance your camping experience:

• Seasonal Camping: The campground operates from Memorial Day weekend through September 15, providing a dedicated site for each guest throughout the summer.
• Spacious Campsites: Enjoy 50 large campsites, half of which are surrounded by serene woods while the other half resides in a well-maintained open field.
• Water and Electrical Hookups: Each site is equipped with water and electrical hookups, with optional private cable and phone installations.
• Restroom and Shower Facilities: Complimentary restroom and shower facilities are available for guests.
• Pet-Friendly: Pets are allowed (limited to two well-behaved dogs per site) as long as they are cleaned up after.
• Community Activities: Join in the fun with potluck suppers and friendly games held in the 1000 sq ft office area.

Cottage Rentals

If you prefer more comfort while enjoying the great outdoors, Head Beach offers 14 rustic cottages available for weekly rentals from Saturday to Saturday, from June to September:

• Fully Equipped: Each cottage comes with cooking and eating utensils, an apartment-sized cook stove, refrigerator, and a bathroom with standard shower fixtures.
• Unique Views: All cottages feature a deck, small lawn, and private parking, ensuring each guest enjoys a spectacular view of Casco Bay.
• Access to Private Beach: Guests have free access to the sandy Head Beach, just a short walk away from the cottages.

Beach and Recreational Activities

Head Beach itself is a sandy oasis, protected by natural ledges which keep the current mild and suitable for families. Beach hours run from 9 am to 5 pm and a parking fee applies for non-registered guests.

• Tidal Bay Access: Explore the tidal bay with your kayak or try your hand at digging soft shell clams during low tide.
• Fishing Opportunities: Fishing from the beach is a popular activity, with local charters available for more adventurous outings.
• Hiking and Biking: Nearby hiking trails and biking paths offer additional avenues for outdoor exploration.
