The name ‘Tamarack’ pays homage to the western larch, a tree abundant in the nearby Blue and Wallowa Mountains.

Accessing the cabin requires a high-clearance vehicle, especially due to the steep and rocky last mile of the journey. Please note that due to its remote location, no water is available on-site—guests must come prepared with ample drinking and cooking water.

The surroundings are adorned with colorful wildflowers like lupine, yarrow, and balsamroot, which bloom vibrantly during the warmer months.
