Scout Mountain Campground is a picturesque retreat nestled at an elevation of 6,900 feet on the beautiful Scout Mountain, just 13 miles south of Pocatello, Idaho. The campground is a part of the stunning Caribou-Targhee National Forest, surrounded by diverse wildlife and birding opportunities. With a variety of outdoor activities available year-round, this campground is ideal for families, nature lovers, and adventure seekers alike.

Available Campsites

The campground features a combination of first-come, first-serve campsites and reservable campsites. Visitors should check with the campground host for site availability. In the absence of the host, guests can verify occupancy and pay at the fee tube if a site is free.

Important Information

Scout Mountain Campground is a pack it in, pack it out facility, meaning visitors should bring their own garbage bags and dispose of waste appropriately. It is important to note that horses, livestock, and off-road vehicles are not permitted within the campground grounds.

The road leading to the campground is paved with a few switchbacks; thus, RVs are able to navigate without difficulty. However, there are no water, sewer, or electrical hookups available, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a rustic camping experience.
