Overview

Nestled along the scenic San Joaquin River, Lost Lake Recreation Area offers a delightful escape for camping enthusiasts and outdoor lovers alike. Located just 19 miles north of Fresno beneath the impressive Friant Dam, this campground spans 326 acres of beautiful landscape, perfect for a variety of recreational activities.

A Rich History

The area has a profound history, dating back to its origins as the ancestral home of the Wakichi Band of Yokuts. The land features over 300 documented grinding holes, marking its historical significance. Established in 1961, Lost Lake was initially a fishing spot and gradually evolved into a thriving recreational area with a rich cultural background. In the late 1930s, the name “Lost Lake” emerged due to a gravel pit created for the construction of Friant Dam, where a significant amount of gold was even discovered.

Camping Facilities

Campsites: Lost Lake offers 37 campsites equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, and easy access to restrooms and water. Each site can accommodate vehicles up to 34 feet in length.
Accessibility: Two ADA-compliant campsites are available, ensuring accessibility for all visitors.
Reservation Policy: Reservations are required for group campsites, while single campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Park Hours

The park operates during the following hours:

Summer Hours: April 1 – September 30, from 7 AM to 10 PM
Winter Hours: October 1 – March 31, from 7 AM to 7 PM

Entrance Fees

$25 per night for single campsites (includes first vehicle entry fee)
$9 per night for seniors (62 and over, ID required)
$11 per night for Disabled Veterans (valid ID required)
$200 per night for group campsites with a 10 vehicle minimum (plus a $100 refundable cleaning deposit)
Annual Pass: $40, providing unlimited entry to the park
