About the Campground
Big Trinity Cabin offers a serene getaway nestled in a breathtaking high alpine landscape. Located within the scenic Boise National Forest, this cabin serves as a cozy retreat, ideal for those eager to immerse themselves in the wonders of nature. Surrounded by subalpine lakes and the majestic peaks of the Boise Mountains, guests can indulge in a variety of recreational activities while enjoying the stunning scenery.
Available Campsites
This campground includes two main camping sites:
- Site 1: Loop BIG, Type Cabin Nonelectric
- Site 2: Loop SMAL, Type Cabin Nonelectric
Note that camping is available on a first come, first served basis at nearby campgrounds: Big Roaring and Little Roaring. Camping is not permitted directly at the cabin site.
Amenities & Features
While Big Trinity Cabin provides a number of amenities for a comfortable stay, guests are encouraged to bring their own supplies and gear. Key features include:
- A cozy sleeping arrangement for up to six guests, including a double bed and a sofa bed.
- A well-equipped kitchen setup with dishes, tableware, cookware, and a wood stove for heating and cooking.
- A picnic table and campfire ring with grill, perfect for outdoor cooking and gatherings.
- A vault restroom located outside for convenience.
- Access to a hand pump for drinking water, located nearby.
- A pile of seasoned firewood and tools including a splitting maul, axe, and hatchet provided for your use.
Please be aware that there is no electricity or propane available at the cabin, and guests must pack out all garbage as there is no trash service.

The cabin sits at an elevation of 7,900 feet amidst a dense lodgepole pine forest and offers access to four picturesque subalpine lakes:
- Big Roaring River Lake
- Little Roaring River Lake
- Big Trinity Lake
- Little Trinity Lake
During your stay, keep an eye out for the local wildlife, including elk and deer, with the possibility of an occasional black bear sighting.

The area surrounding Big Trinity Cabin is bursting with recreational opportunities:
- Explore the Rainbow Basin Trail system, a 4-mile path suitable for pedestrian travel, granting access to several lakes.

- Guests are responsible for cleaning the cabin before departure.
- Bedding, lighting, and emergency supplies are not provided, so bring your own items to ensure a comfortable stay.
- Please refrain from using candles inside the cabin.
- Care must be taken to avoid moving firewood; obtain it near your destination to prevent the spread of pests.
Bear in mind that the cabin will be closed for renovations during the summer season of 2025.
